Greetings,
As discussed previously in the club. We should consolidate our questions for Marquis when and if we meet with him. So, considering his article on abortion, what do you believe to be the weaknesses of his argument, strengths, or major questions?

There will be a few of us in the usual GC 231 at 4:00 p.m. and we will be finishing up the text "Analogy" by Russell and perhaps move into the brief second part of the handout "Can Computers Think?" by John R. Searle. Sorry for the short notice!

General Announcements
A few items of note regarding this blog and our first meeting:
1) If you would like to post on the blog, send me an e-mail so that I may give you posting status. In order to post, you will need to create a Blogger account (if you haven't already done so). The more posts the better. Posts can simply be a link to something interesting and philosophy-related. Alternatively, longer posts - pending approval - could, for example, more thoroughly expand upon a particular topic for the purpose of stimulating discussion on the blog. If posts create substantial interest, we could then examine the topic further during one of our meetings.
2) Take the time to comment on this post with possible ideas for the topic of our first meeting. I will put up a poll during the first week of classes, and whichever topic receives the most votes will be the subject of our first session. Over time, we should be able to generate numerous discussion topics. These votes will be a pretty consistent part of the blog, and participation is key. It is important that we discuss topics that members find interesting. You can always e-mail me at zachary.smith@washburn.edu with topic ideas as well. Eventually I will have a calender placed on the blog front page that will display the schedule and topics for upcoming sessions.
Now, let's brainstorm! Comment away...
